Last November, Bark Nation – an animal welfare organization from Detroit – rescued 108 dogs from what was believed to be Michigan’s largest dogfighting operation. Among the rescued animals was a blind dog that had been chained outside with a dilapidated doghouse as its only form of shelter. The rescue mission was carried out in collaboration with state and federal law enforcement agencies, and Bark Nation remains committed to ending dogfighting and saving the lives of vulnerable animals.
After a thorough examination by a veterinarian, it was confirmed that the adorable dog was blind, most likely as a result of traumatic experiences from dogfighting. Jessica Brown, Director of Operations at Bark Nation, expressed her sympathy and said that it must have been an incredibly difficult life for him, living outside and exposed to the elements with no sight. Despite his struggles, the sweet boy, affectionately known as “Turkey Jerky Snack” or the KING, captured the hearts of the team and volunteers.
Turkey has grown accustomed to residing in a shelter, but she yearns for a permanent home. He has overcome the trauma of his past and is eager to shower someone with unconditional love. Navigating an unfamiliar environment can be daunting and scary, especially when you have no sight. Thankfully, Turkey has a unique wagon that he utilizes daily to venture outside.
Looking for a cuddle buddy? Turkey is your guy! This loving dog is in search of a forever home where he can curl up on a comfortable couch and spend quality time with his people. Despite being completely deaf, Turkey loves going on adventures and spending time at the park. However, his favorite place to be is by your side, enjoying some tasty, dog-friendly snacks and watching movies. He’s even won the Best Actor award at his shelter’s “Bark-ademy Awards”! Turkey would benefit from having a canine companion and a patient family to help him adjust to his new surroundings. If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Turkey, visit the website provided.
