Not long ago, a group of rescuers from Abrigo Animais Aumigos stumbled upon a mommy dog and her trio of pups. They were sprawled out on the ground, appearing drained. The mama dog was shedding tears as she was unable to provide nourishment for her little ones.
Paola, the mother pooch, was completely drained because of starvation and her little ones had nothing to feed on. They lay hopelessly on the ground, and the situation appeared to be very grim for the family. The rescue team believed that the family had been deprived of food for quite some time now.
The mother dog could barely keep her eyes open and was in excruciating pain. The puppies, too, were suffering immensely. The entire family was undernourished and extremely frail. The little ones had to endure a lot of hardship and deprivation during their early years.
Upon finding a mother dog and her three puppies, the rescuers wasted no time in providing them with much-needed food and taking them to the vet. Unfortunately, the vet discovered that all of them were infested with ticks and malnourished, with one puppy being worse off than the others. To ensure that the two healthier puppies could recover fully, they were separated from their sibling.
The rescue center provided the dog family with nutritious meals to aid in their recovery, although the mother dog’s tight stomach meant she had to be fed slowly. They focused on giving her plenty of protein so that she and her puppies could regain their health quickly. After three days, the mother dog’s health had improved significantly, and by day ten, all four dogs had gained weight and were well on their way to a full recovery.
With increasing trust in their rescuers and regular care from the rescue center, the mother dog’s health improved to the point where she could feed herself and care for her puppies without assistance. After almost two months, all four dogs were healthy and happy. The three puppies found loving homes, and the mother dog, Paola, could finally lead a contented life.
