As someone who adores cats, it’s amusing to think that I’m currently responsible for eight dogs. This group includes six huskies, a Samoyed, and a Northern Inuit, making for quite the lively pack! Unfortunately, my affection for felines meant that adopting a kitten wasn’t feasible with this canine crew. Nevertheless, I remained determined to welcome a cat into my home, so I set out to find one that could coexist peacefully with my dogs. Through my research, I discovered that fur farms still exist in my country. These facilities breed lynxes specifically for their fur, which is highly prized in Russia. Ultimately, I was relieved to learn that adopting a lynx cub from such a farm is perfectly legal. When given the opportunity, I couldn’t resist bringing home a tiny lynx cub who was destined to become a fur coat. I named him Geralt, inspired by the protagonist of the popular video game The Witcher.
To our surprise, the dogs proved to be incredibly helpful in looking after Geralt. They played with the kitten and allowed him to nibble their ears and rest on their stomachs without any objections. Furthermore, they even shared their food with him occasionally.
Banshee, our elderly dog, kindly took on the responsibility of looking after a young lynx.
As Geralt grew older, he began to exhibit a playful side, making him the star of all the husky get-togethers.
Furthermore, my equine companion, Texas, and he get along famously!
After an adventurous experience, I dedicated my efforts to nurturing and teaching him with immense triumph. He possesses distinctive qualities of both cats and dogs.
He’s a huge and fluffy creature, with an ungainly appearance.
When Geralt was just one year old, I was able to rescue a cute little girl kitten that became his new feline friend.
Bulochka got her moniker from her kind and charming personality, as the word translates to “bun” in our native tongue.
Wild lynxes are usually known to be independent animals, so I assumed that my feline companions would also live separately. But, I was pleasantly surprised to witness Geralt embracing little Bulochka as his own daughter and welcoming her into his life.

While we were brainstorming names for our new furry friend, our friends jokingly proposed the name “Ciri” instead of the name “Bulochka” that we had initially selected.
Since that particular moment, my lynx pair has become inseparable. Just take a quick look at their precious snouts as they sleep!
Having had the pleasure of raising two lynxes myself, I can confirm that one of the biggest challenges when rescuing these majestic creatures is to ensure their well-being.
The primary objective on fur farms is to breed animals, but this often results in poor health and lack of care for the animals.
Geralt is one lucky person as he has only experienced a broken elbow and a toe throughout his life, proving him to be in good health.
Taming and training a lynx isn’t as challenging as it may seem. With a little bit of effort, you can make it happen by introducing them to a standard cat litter box and teaching them to walk on a leash.
These animals also emit a soothing purr, similar to domestic felines, but considerably louder.
At the moment, I am thoroughly enjoying my time surrounded by lynxes, huskies, and horses. Additionally, helping those who have chosen to save and care for big cats brings me immense happiness. It’s a fulfilling experience to assist in domesticating these majestic creatures.
I can’t wait for what’s next in store for me this year. There’s a good chance that I’ll get to rescue one more cute baby lynx from being held captive on a fur farm.
